Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies

I have recently transitioned into a new role at FHSU. I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Leadership Studies.  I teach undergraduate and graduate classes both on-campus and online qand also advise graduate students in the Master of Professional Studies program.  I am also using my experinece in both leadership studies and the field of education to teach a leadership class in the Higher Education Student Affairs program.  I serve on the Assessment committee, and represent my department as a member of the Faculty Senate.

I previously designed and delivered online courses to international students enrolled in Leadership Studies programs at Shenyang Normal University  and Sias International University,  Chinese partners of FHSU. This is part of a unique “cross-border” program, in which students are earning dual degrees, one from their “home” institution, and one from
FHSU.  This required a unique blend of distance delivery using Blackboard, overseeing all instructional materials and lectures/presentations, and working with a “cooperating instructor” employed by the Chinese institution.

The Department of Justice has an extensive training project assisting international governments with all facets of law enforcement training, called the International Criminal Investigation Training Assistance Program, ICITAP. Part of this comprehensive program includes helping STIK-PTIK, the  academy for Indonesian National Police, expand its delivery to outreach locations.  I am assisting Northern Arizona University with faculty development and training, helping prepare the faculty to transfer delivery of face-to-face courses to a blended delivery modality using an open-source learning management system and interactive TV. The first phase of this training was completed in October 2013.  All the materials and some classroom pictures are included in the booklet below:
